PCCTools for Revit guide

Create point-cloud
sections and slices

Isolate horizontal and vertical slabs from linked scans using interactive picks, the current view orientation or existing Revit levels.

Horizontal section

  1. Start from a non-template 3D view.
  2. Choose whether to clear an existing Quick Crop.
  3. PCCTools switches to Front and zooms to the cloud.
  4. Pick the required elevation.
  5. A horizontal slab uses the thickness stored in Section Settings.

Vertical section

  1. PCCTools switches to Top and zooms to the cloud.
  2. Draw one native Revit Model Line along the section.
  3. Press Escape to finish the Line command.
  4. The direction snaps to X or Y when it falls inside the configured angular tolerance.
  5. PCCTools creates the finite vertical crop and removes the temporary line.

View-oriented slices

Horizontal Slice uses the current view and keeps points between dragged top and bottom limits. Vertical Slice keeps points between dragged left and right limits.

Slice between Revit levels

Horizontal Slice Between Levels uses two existing levels selected from dropdown lists and retains the point cloud between their elevations.

Manage the result

Every section and slice enters the same reversible history as Rectangular Crop. Use Uncrop Last, Uncrop All or save the finished section as a named Crop State.
