Standard AutoCAD behavior requires selecting the point cloud for any operation, which carries the risk of unintended movement — even a 1-pixel drag during a lag can shift the entire cloud and go unnoticed. Such unnoticed shifts often lead to significant time losses during rework — and in some cases, even financial consequences. PCCTools allows you to lock the point cloud to prevent such shifts while still enabling cropping, styling, and isolation tools. If you need to unlock it (e.g., to work with other plugins), PCCTools continues to monitor its position and immediately alerts you if any displacement is detected.
AutoCAD’s native point cloud tools require selecting a cloud and waiting for the contextual tab to load — often causing lags with large datasets.
