PCCTools for Revit guide

Quick Crop or
Revit Cropbox?

Use Quick Crop for fast reversible point filtering and Cropbox for an editable native Revit section box that also clips model geometry.

The key difference

Quick Crop filters only the linked point-cloud points and stores a reversible crop stack. Cropbox uses the active 3D view's native Revit section box and clips all model geometry in that view.

Create reversible Quick Crops

  1. Open the graphical view used to define the crop.
  2. Optionally preselect point clouds; otherwise visible clouds are used.
  3. Click Rectangular Crop and drag around the points to keep.
  4. Repeat to intersect additional crops.
  5. Use Uncrop Last or Uncrop All to restore points.

Use an editable Cropbox

Create the box from point-cloud boundary metadata, fit it tightly to the full cloud, or tighten the existing orientation to points currently inside it. Modify Cropbox selects the native section box for grip editing.

Convert Quick Crop to Cropbox

After several Quick Crops isolate the required scan volume, run Quick Crop to Cropbox. PCCTools samples the retained points, creates a tight native section box, clears the Quick Crop and selects the new box for editing.
